Your Business and the Web, Session 1:
How the Web Works
For more information on the entire seminar, or to register for the entire three-part series, visit the main seminar page.
NOTE: Online registration will end for this event on May 18; after that, if you want to attend, please contact Executive Director Paul Gerald by email at director@nabponline.org
Session 1 is designed to provide the underlying context of the larger picture of the web and the principles behind it. Without a solid understanding of the principles, assimilating the following knowledge becomes a challenge of memorizing things that have confusing relationships. With the proper understanding of the principles, it becomes an understanding of logical relationships.
Our goal as presenters: attendees have several a-ha moments and say “that makes sense now.”
Keywords:
The web is a world of words. Even today, words and their relationships to sites, user intent, commerce, and each other control the way that Google organizes search results. And the way Google organizes search results is the way the world “gets their stuff”. Bottom line: when you get it… it’s complicated but comprehensible, and absolutely essential. Putting any degree of effort into online marketing without understanding keywords is a waste of time and money. That’s why we start here!
Along with the principles of keyword research, there are many decisions facing the uninitiated regarding tools to use, how to think about the information, and how to work with the tools selected. Seminar 1’s explanation of keywords, research, and processes are THE HEART of understanding Internet marketing, regardless of whether you’re considering organic search, paid search, products, services, local or global. It’s all about the keywords.
Our goal as presenters: attendees say “I had no idea. I feel much more prepared now.”
