What the heck is Kickstarter, and how can we use it as publishers?
Well, the short answer is that Kickstarter.com is a grassroots funding website for creative projects. Done right, it can finance much or all of your publishing project.
How? Well, come to the July meeting and find out!
Patrick McDonald,NABP’s July speaker on the topic of Kickstarter.
Patrick McDonald founded Overcup Press in 2010 with the intention of making a lasting contribution to the Northwest’s literary arts community. He holds a Masters of Arts degree in publishing from Portland State University and worked for several years at Ooligan Press, PSU’s graduate-level teaching press. While working at Ooligan he co-authored Classroom Publishing: A Practical Guide for Teachers, a book based upon the idea that students who write with a clear sense of audience and purpose will become better writers.
Patrick has taught English at Oregon City High School since 1998 where he has also served as their publications advisor. He lives in Southeast Portland with his wife and his cat, Zoey Ramone.
The first book by Overcup Press, The Tall Trees of Tokyo, will be released this fall.
